Kassena Nankana  District, one of the nine (9) districts in the Upper East Region is located in the northern part of Ghana.  It is bordered by the Republic of Burkina Faso, and the Bolgatanga, Bonga, Builsa, Sissala and Mamprusi West Districts.  It stretches for 55 kilometres from north to south and 53 kilometres from east to west. The district capital is Navrongo.

The Kassena Nankana District Assembly   is   committed to improving the quality of life of its people. However, the assembly has devoted a lot of l its resources  in  creating   an  enabling environment to food security, education and health. Since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government assumed office in 2001, the assembly, in line with the Ghana Poverty Reduction and Growth I Strategy, has focused on the provision of basic social infrastructure as well I as human resource development in the district.
