The Bunkprugu-Yunyoo district is one of the eighteen districts of the Northern Region. It was created in the year 2004 as part of the government’s efforts to further decentralize governance.
It has Bunkprugu as its administrative capital. The district is located at the north-eastern end of the Northern Region of Ghana. It shares boundaries in the north with the Garu-Tempane, to the east with Togo, west with East Mamprusi and to the south by Gushegu and Saboba Chereponi.
