Asuogyaman District Assembly is one of the seventeen (17) districts in the Eastern Region of Ghana it covers a total estimated surface are of 1,507 square kilometers and constitutes 5.7% of the total area of eastern Region and making the 10th largest district in the Region with its capital at Atimpoku.

The District is one of the forty-five new districts created in 1988 as a result of the Ghana Government’s re-demarcation exercise to operationalise the decentralization programme in the country.

The Asuogyaman District Assembly is one of the fifteen districts in the Eastern Region. It is located approximately between latitudes 6º 34º N and 6º 10º N and longitudes 0º 1º W and 0º14E. It is about 120m above Mean Sea Level (MSL).

It covers a total estimated surface area of 1,507 sq. km, constituting 5.7 percent of the total area of the Eastern Region and the 10th largest district in the Region.

Lower Manya Krobo District borders the district to the north and the Kwahu West Municipal to the south and west. Asuogyaman is a traditional district situated between the Volta and Eastern Regions and they share borders to the east with Kpando, South Dayi, Ho Municipal and the North Tongu Districts of the Volta Region.

The population of Asuogyaman District stands at approximately 80,529 people.  It has a total land area of 1,507 square kilometers.

The district has been divided into two by the Volta Lake (the largest man-made lake in the world).  Numerous chains of mountains covered with thick and green vegetation create a serene environment along the banks of the Volta River, and as a result, most of the resort centres are located along the banks of the river.
