The Asunafo South District was curved out of the then Asunafo District in 2004 by an Act of Parliament through a Legislative Instrument and is the highest Administrative and Political authority within its sphere of influence and jurisdiction.It has kukuom as its capital.
The Asunafo South District shares common boundaries with Asutifi in the North East, Asunafo North District on the North West and Juaboso on the West and Sefwi-Wiaso District in South-West borders.
