The Biakoye District Assembly is one of the newly created districts in the Volta Region. It was established by Legislative Instrument No 1910 of 2007 and inaugurated on 15th March 2011. Carved out of the jasikan District Assembly, Biakoye has its capital at Nkonya Ahenkro.
It shares boundaries with Kpando District to the South, Hohoe Municipal to the East, Jasikan to the North East, Krachi East to the North and the Volta Lake to the West. The District has a population of about 63,500. The major occupation of the people is farming, fishing and trading.
Assembly-members of the newly inaugurated Biakoye District on Thursday questioned the "habitual absence" of their Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kwasi Bandua from programmes of the district.
The newly inaugurated Biakoye District, accumulated a net amount of GH¢1.548 million as its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) between 2008 and the third quarter of 2010.
