Shama District forms part of twenty two (22) Metropolitan, Municipalities and Districts in the Western Region of Ghana. The Administrative Capital of the District is Shama. The District Shares boundaries with Komenda/ Edina/ Eguafo/ Abirem Municipal to the east , to the west with Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan, to the north with Wassa East District and to the south with the Gulf of Guinea .
The Shama District Assembly has prepared a comprehensive Spatial Plan to ensure orderliness in the development of the district to avoid it being turned into a slum, Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah, the District Chief Executive, has said.
Members of the Shama District Assembly have protested against a proposal from the Ministry of Fisheries that a private investor from outside the district should manage a cold store constructed by the government for the Shama area.
