The Effutu Municipal is situated between latitudes 50 20 north and longitudes 00 25, west and 0037, west on the eastern part of the Central Region Ghana. It is winded and sandwiched by Greater Accra Region and the District (i.e. Ga Rural, Agona and Gomoa).
It is bordered to the north by Agona Municipal the north-east by the West Akim Municipal, to the south by the Gulf of Guinea, to the east Gomoa District , and on the west by the Gomoa District. The Municipal covers an area of 417.3 square kilometers (163 sq miles). Winneba is the administrative capital.
Mr. Francis Kofi Ayeequaye, Chief Executive of Effutu Municipal Assembly has charged all Assembly and Unit Committee members to eschew partisan politics to ensure effective and efficient Development in the area.
President John Dramani Mahama has in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Government Act 1993, Act 462 appointed Mr. Francis Kofi Ayikwei as Municipal Chief Executive for Effutu.
The Effutu Municipality has received funding from the World Bank through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for the implementation of the third Urban Development Grant (UDG) sub projects.
