The Bosome Freho District with Atiwa as its capital is one of the 30 administrative and political Districts in the Ashanti Region of Ghana and is located in the south eastern part of the Ashanti Region and shares boundaries with Bekwai Municipal to the West, Ejisu Juaben and Bosomtwe Districts to the North Asante Akim South to the South and Birim North to the South.
The District lies within Latitude 6º 00’N and 6º 26’N and Longitudes 1º 00 W and 1º 30 W. It covers a total land area of about 630 sq. km. The District lies within the forest dissected plateau physiographic region with an average height registering between 150 metres and 300 metres above sea level. The topography is relatively flat with occasional undulating uplands, which rise around 240 metres to 300 metres around Lake Bosomtwe area.
The Chief Executive Officer of Madamfo Ghana Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Mad. Bettina Landgrafe, who doubles as the Nkosuohemaa for the Apewu community in the Bosome-Freho district, has been honoured by the Asamang Traditional Council.
Mr. George Akwasi Amoako, Assembly Member for Anwiaso Electoral in the Bosomefreho District in Ashanti Region, has said that some galamsey operators in his electoral area have threatened to kill him if he does not stop campaigning on the need to stop illegal mining in Anhwiaso.
As part of the Better Ghana Agenda, which has succeeded in improving the lives of many in the country, about twelve deprived towns in the Bosome Freho District will very soon be connected to the national power grid.
Mr. Kwaku Attah, chairman for the New Patroitic Party (NPP) branch in the Freboye Constituency in the Bosome Freho District in the Ashanti Region, has thrown his support for President John Mahama and the NDC government for initiating noteworthy development projects in the area.
Eight towns in the Bosome Freho District in the Ashanti Region have been made lively especially during evening hours as they have connected to the National power grid for them to also enjoy electricity from that part of the country.
