Bosome Freho district with its capital Asiwa forms part of the new districts and municipalities created last year by the President, J.A Kufuor were inaugurated at their various locations simultanously on the 29th of February 2008.
The President by an Executive Instrument (E.I) created 27 new Districts, 4 Municipalities, Upgraded 26 existing Districts and 2 existing Municipalities.
All the inaugurated and confirmed MMDAs established are operational with immediate effect hence bringing the total number of MMDAs to 169.
These new creation arose as a result of the large size of some of the then 138 MMDAs which was not one way or the other allowing the government to fully implement its policies of local governance to the benefit of the entire citizenary.

Area council members in the Bosome Freho District, in the Ashanti Region, are currently undergoing a 2-day training programme aimed at equipping them with professional skills and the expertise in revenue mobilization.
As a means to facilitate service delivery in the area, about 51 motorbikes have been distributed to members and civil servants of the Bosome-Freho District Assembly in the Ashanti Region.
In order to fully implement the President’s directive to all assemblies in the country to improve access to quality education for all Ghanaians irrespective of your location or political orientation the Bosome Freho District Assembly continues to build new school structures to replace those under trees.
The Bosome–Freho District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has vigorously started construction works on the Ampaha Dompa stretch of road that leads to Akaase, a major tourist site in the district.
In the quest to boost the economy of the Bosome Freho District in the Ashanti Region, the Chief Executive for the area, Kwame Adarkwah, has inaugurated a new rural bank at Asiwa in the District.
