The Techiman Municipal was created in 1978. The Municipal capital is Techiman, a strategically situated junction town with very good roads linking it not only to most of Ghana’s major commercial centres, but also to the Republics of Togo, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire. It has an estimated total land area of about 669.7 square kilometers.
The Municipality shares local boundaries with Wenchi Municipal to the west, Sunyani West and Offinso North Districts to the south, Kintampo South District to the north and Nkoranza South District to the east.
The National Health Insurance Scheme in the Techiman Municipality has registered more than the required number of applicants it had intended to insure since last year to date.
As part of the “Better Ghana” agenda which promises to improve the wellbeing of Ghanaians in the country, about 77 communities in the Techiman Municipality have been provided with mechanized boreholes to help mitigate water problems in the area.
The Chief Executive for the Techiman Municipal Assembly, Alex Kyeremeh has been commended by folks of the municipality for improving the level of sanitation in the area.
From his own share of the MPs Common Fund, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, the Member of Parliament for Techiman North in the Brong Ahafo Region, has financed an ICT project in the area.
