The programme is under the Ghana productive Safety Net Project, through the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development.

Speaking at a short presentation ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Daniel Kwame Gariba noted that the beneficiaries are being supported to go into, shea butter, groundnut paste and dawadawa processing.

He added that the beneficiaries will also be trained to go into goat and sheep rearing, adding that “the objective of the project is to make the beneficiaries self-employed by this means reducing poverty in our communities.”

The DCE further said the government aims at helping so many hands in the district, stressing that the successful attainment of the objective hinges on how well the beneficiaries put their monies into good use for their own benefit and the well-being of others.

He said, job creation especially for the youth is at the heart of the New Patriotic Party’s development agenda.

He said since the public sector cannot absolve all prospective job seekers, it is only expedient to train and equip the youth to become self-employed.
