Fisher folks in Nzema East receive govt support

The Municipal Chief Executive of Nzema East Mr. Frank Okpenyen on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has distributed bags of rice, cooking oils and spices to fisher folks along the coast of Nzema East Municipality.

The NPP government instituted the initiative to alleviate the hardships of the fishermen and fishmongers after the closure of the fishing season.

The Beneficiary fishing communities were Akyinim, Brawire, Anto Brawire, Amanfukuman, Solorh, James Town, Boatase, Anto, Apewosika, Nkekeim, Akonu, Agyan, and Domunil.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Okpenyen thanked the President, and the Ministry of Fisheries for this great vision aimed at improving the well-being of the fisher folks.

The MCE added that, President Akufo-Addo would continue to support the fishing sector to improve the lives of fisher folks in the country and commended the President for thinking about the development of the area.

Mr. Frank Okpenyen further advised the fishermen to avoid negative fishing practices that could affect the sea.

Speaking on behalf of the Fishermen, the Chief Fisherman of Nzema East Municipality, Nana Kojo Bentil lauded President Akuff-Addo and Fisheris Ministry for the Kind gesture.
