PWD’S in Wenchi receive working tools and cash
Wenchi Municipal Assembly has presented start-up equipment’s and cash to people living with disability (PWDs) in Wenchi.

The gesture formed part of the Assembly’s resolve to equip them with tools that can enable them venture into productive work.

In all a total of 56 people, were presented with items ranging from Deep Freezers, Water Pumping machines, shoe grinding machine and Fufu Grinding Machine.



Eleven of them were also given money to start a trade. The Member of Parliament Hon. Prof. George Djan Baffour said the physically challenged individuals were very important people in society and needed to be given the needed support in other to make life a bit comfortable for them so that they will not go onto the streets to beg for arms.



He urged them to put the equipment’s to good use so that it will help them to generate income to take care of themselves.

The Acting President for the people living with Disability Madam Hafisatu Adams thanked the Assembly for the kind gesture and assured them that, the facilities will serve its intended purpose.



She mentioned that in times past they only collected the monies and spent it on their meals, but now that they are been given the working tools they can work with it to make ends need.

She, on behalf of the Association thanked government for considering their plight and supporting them midway.



The Director of Department of Social Welfare Mr. Ben Akum said the first and second beneficiaries of the start-up tools have putting them into good use thereby making life a bit bearable for them.

He also thanked the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection for their assistance over the years.
