Assin North SHS accountant fumbles over GH¢163,000 without receipt

The accountant for Assin North Senior High School, William Korankye was inconsistent when he appeared before the Public Account Committee as he has been cited for paying suppliers without supporting receipts and invoices to authenticate his payment.

The amount involved is one hundred and sixty-three thousand Ghana cedis ((GH¢163,000) as infractions uncovered in the 2015 Auditor General’s report.

Alex Agyeikum, a member of the PAC questioning the accountant urged him to be bold and patients in his answers as he shivered in front of the microphone.

According to the accountant upon persistent reminders from the headmistress, the necessary documents were secured, attached with the necessary supporting payment vouchers.

He further noted that those payment vouchers related to the PTA have been made available to the Audit Service in Assin Fosu for verification.

Meanwhile, the auditors have refuted the claims made by the accountant and asked the head of the school to provide the necessary documents without delay else would be surcharge.
