Ga East inaugurates 6th Assembly
The 6th Assembly of the Ga East Municipal Assembly was on February 12, 2024 inaugurated at the Assembly premises.

16 members comprising 10 elected and 6 Government Appointees took the oath of Office.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Nii Armah Ashitey in his address said the essence of the inauguration is to ensure continuity with development at the local level championed by Assembly members as representatives of the people at the Assembly.
He therefore urged them to hold fast the confidence reposed in them by their people at the local level and work assiduously to fulfill the goals and aspirations of the people.

He called on them to eschew partisanship and instead work together with the technocrats to bring the needed growth and development to their communities.

He appealed to those experienced individuals who have had the benefit of returning to the assembly to exhibit exemplary conduct for the new members to emulate to ensure speedy deliberations of issues and in the interest of the development of the municipality
As such there is the need to create meaningful dialogue with the electorates, ensuring that their concerns are critically taken into consideration and addressed.

The MCD admonished the newly elected and inaugurated members to be diligent, accountable and responsive to the Assembly and their electorates in order to be their good books.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, through the Institute of Local Government Service, will in the next few weeks organize an orientation and training for the newly elected Assembly members to build their capacities and to enable them appreciate the expected roles and responsibilities ahead of them.
