The district can now boast of a lot of Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds spread evenly across communities in the district. These facilities according to authorities are connected with water usually from boreholes to help address water challenges at the facilities.

The District Chief Executive for the area, Isaac Agyapong speaking with Ghanadistricts.com at his office, also announced that more of the CHPS compounds are ongoing and at different levels of completion.

He said before they came to office, the District could only boast of six CHPS compounds, and that was a major challenge at the time considering the large population of the area.

Mr. Agyapong said the health facilities that are placed at the doorsteps of the people in the communities would help accelerate the attainment of the Universal Access to Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly, goal three.

“The community members, particularly pregnant women used to trek to far distances before access health care, but with the provision of the health infrastructure, coupled with the posting of health staff to the facilities, the trend has now positively changed as the community members can now access health care at their doorsteps in their communities”, he stated.

The DCE also pointed out that the NPP government led by President Nana Akufo-Addo was very passionate about the well-being of the citizenry, particularly the health of women and children, and explained that this informed the decision of the Assembly to make health care one of its topmost priorities.
