The excursion which took them to the Kwame Danso Senior High Technical School KDSHTS was aimed at getting the pupils to familiarize themselves with facilities and programmes at the school.

According to Mr. Cletus S. Suuk the district director of the Commission, the exercise was to enable the pupils make informed choices when it comes to courses at the senior high school.

He said, it was also to encourage these pupils to take advantage of the school which is located close to them and reduce the incidence of pupils choosing schools in other district and regions which sometimes comes with a lot of inconveniences to both themselves and their parents.

“Some students choose boarding schools outside the district and once these choices fall through they turn to the KDSHTS for refuge” he said.

The Assistant Headmaster in charge of academics of the school Mr. Scott Adutwum and other heads of department briefed the pupils on among others, academic programmes offered by the school, admission requirements in terms of grades, academic performance of the KDSHTS and carreer opportunities after school.

The teams visited the school’s science laboratories as well as the wood and metal workshops.

Mr. Adutwum praised the NCCE for the initiative considering the fact that the children will soon be making senior high school choices in readiness for their final exams in about three months.

Some of the pupils expressed their gratitude to the Commission for the opportunity saying it would help them make good decisions when planning for their senior high school education.
