New Premix Fuel Station is timely gift to Community- Residents of Nungua

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hawa Koomson, has sponsored the establishment of an ultra-modern, mechanised premix fuel station in the Krowor Municipal Assembly. She explained that the move is to boost the local fishing industry in the Municipality.

The premix fuel station is equipped with modernised fuel pumps, storage tanks, and other safety features. These are to ensure the safe and efficient sale and distribution of fuel to fisher folks. This will make it easier for fishermen to obtain the high-quality fuel they need, which will enable them to sail farther and catch more fish.

Chairman of the Fishermen’s Council, Rady Botei, explained that this is a good initiative that will not only give them consistent access to high-quality fuel but also enhance the sustainability of the fishing business.

“We appreciate the Ministry of Fisheries’ commitment to making this initiative a reality as well as their support. We take pride in being a part of a community that puts fishermen’s welfare first and encourages our expansion and improvement,” he said.

Speaking to some fishermen at the seashore, they disclosed that despite the system’s current inefficiency, they are eagerly anticipating the day when it does begin to function so that they will be supplied with the premix fuel they need to keep their supply of fish in check.

Nii Adotei Sarbah added, “As local fishermen, we have trouble getting good fuel for our boats, which has limited our capacity to fish in deeper areas and increase our catch. But, now with the construction of the premix fuel station, we no longer need to worry when it starts to function.”

Abena Mensah, Local Fish Vendor, also shared, “this new premix fuel station is a game-changer for us. With reliable access to quality fuel, we can expect a steady supply of fresh fish, which means better business for us and more variety for our customers.”

Kwesi Tetteh, a boat repairer also voiced, “Having a modern fuel station nearby is a huge relief. It ensures that the boats I repair have access to clean and dependable fuel. This will undoubtedly improve their performance and durability.”

“This initiative shows that the government is serious about supporting our industry. With a stable supply of quality fish, my processing business can thrive. It’s a win-win for all of us,” Ama Serwaa, a fish processor, exclaimed.

The opening of the premix fuel station is regarded as an important step in encouraging sustainable fishing methods and assisting the expansion of the local fishing sector.
