CJ commissiones ultra – modern high court for New Juaben South
The Chief Justice for the Republic of Ghana, His Lordship Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah with the support of the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, last weekend commissioned a fully furnish dual high court complex in Koforidua the Eastern Regional Capital.

The Court building funded by the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development in collaboration with District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) will ensure facilitate easy access to court and promote fair and equal justice delivery system.

The colourful ceremony was witnessed by the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Kwasi Annin Yeboah, and the representative of the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Council, Daasebre Dr. Kwaku Boateng III; the Representative of the Eastern Regional Minister, hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong; the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, the Regional Chief Imam and other Justices and Judges within the Judicial Sector and the general public.



The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana who felt nostalgic to his roots after years of leaving Koforidua recounted how dilapidated the old structure was, indicated that the inauguration of the court complex is in fulfillment of duty to the Judiciary service of Ghana. He acknowledged the hard work and commitment of all judiciary service members of New Juaben municipality who worked under decrepit structures to deliver justice.

He stated that the value of justice delivery cannot be downplayed as it influences and promotes peace, stability, trust and creates an enabling environment for fruitful conduct of business and development. He encouraged all judiciary members to work hard with integrity to ensure the massive delivery of justice. He entreated the people of the municipality to make good use of this huge investment and maintain the newly built court house.



The Chief Director at the Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. John Donkor, who represented the Eastern Regional Minister, commended the government for the initiative to construct high courts across the length and breadth of the country to promote the rule of law.

He further thanked the efforts of the district assembly’s common fund secretariat to have the Court complex constructed, which will make justice very accessible to the people of New Juaben South. He stated that the government has fulfilled it responsibility of ensuring ready access to court in districts for the promotion of justice as enshrined in Section 12 sub section 3 of the local governance.

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi who commended the President for such an initiative, said the project will go a long way to ease the delays in justice delivery system. He further appealed to the public to also practice out of court settlement in order to promote peace in the country. He reiterated the Assembly's support to maintain the facility so that the purpose for which it was constructed is achieved.



The Gyaasehene of the New Juaben Traditional Council, Nana Twumasi Danquah, who also represented the Omanhene, thanked everyone who played a pivotal role to make the dream a reality, saying the edifice is going to enhance the beauty of Koforidua. He further assured the chief justice that the traditional council will also ensure on the maintenance of the project in order to benefit the future generations and guarantee that justice is giving to all.
