JUABOSO: Persons with disability receive support at Juaboso

The Juaboso District Assembly in the Western North Region led by Martha Kwayie Manu has distributed some special items to Federation of Persons With Disability branch within the District.

The items which were given to about 76 people were deep freezes, stabilizers, popcorn machine, fufu machine, educational and training support, among others form part of the three percent share of the district assembly common fund allocation.

According to Martha Kwayie Manu "the purpose of the initiative by the Nana Akuffo Addo led government is to ensure a drastic depreciation or if possible, eradicate poverty among Ghanaian especially within the people with disabilities to avoid begging from the street".

The DCE who is nicknamed the "nkosorhemaa" of the district recounting how the fund was disbursed some years ago revealed that "previously the two percent PWDs fund was distributed to beneficiaries in the form of cash which never helped them to achieve the intended purpose of eradicating poverty among our brothers and sisters, hence, upon assumption of office President Nana Akuffo Addo directed that the money should not be given to you in cash but rather should invest the it in an income earning trade of your choice. That is why we have these items before us today, they are what you requested for".

She assured them of the will power of the government to continue serving the good people of Ghana until we all meet our expectation. She advising the beneficiaries to make proper utilization of the items given for them as a monitoring team from the assembly will not cease visiting them from time to time to assist and access their growth in business.

Mr Agyemang Duah William Okyere Ghana Federation of Disabilities Chairman for Sefwi Juaboso District on behalf of his staff and members expressed their immense gratitude to the government and District Chief Executive, for such a lifespan gift promising to use the items for its purpose to help uplift the standard of living of its members.
