Effutu Municipal Chief Executive calls for formation of watchdog committees.

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Nii Ephraim, has urged people in the Municipality to form watch dog committees to monitor the activities of thieves and also help to apprehend them.

The MCE said reports reaching his outfit indicates that in the last two months, residents at Donbosco Catholic Junior High school, Sankoro, Water Works, Ateitu and Low cost areas at midnight experienced power black outs because thieves have been cutting down the electrical cables.

Mr. Ephraim made the call at a thanksgiving and dedication service of a new pulpit at the Voice of Salvation Ministry, Ghana, at Winneba last weekend.

The pulpit and two standing fans estimated over 1,500 Ghana Cedis, were donated by a church member in fulfilment of a promise made to God.

The MCE said the provision of utility services to the people is one of the top priorities of government, adding that there would be the need for the people to contribute towards the protection of life and property.

He said the law enforcement agencies are ever ready to collaborate with the general public to curb crime in the society, and that the people should not hesitate to expose criminals to support the efforts of the police to fight crime, and maintain law and order.

The Rev. Joseph E. Aggrey, Minister in charge of the church, said worshiping God to attain salvation goes with responsibilities which include the proper grooming of children to become useful members of the society.

He therefore appealed to parents to invest hugely in the education of their children rather than spend lavishly on funerals and other things that would not bring about progress.

The Rev Aggrey said education was the best legacy that could be left with the children to enable them to contribute positively towards the development of the country, adding \"If this is not done then we should know that God will not forgive us.\"

He appealed to the government to enforce laws and regulations on child trafficking and child labour so that people who indulge in such activities are punished to serve as a deterrent to others.

The Rev Fr. Arhin In-charge of Saint John's the Divine Anglican Church in Winneba, who dedicated the pulpit, urged Christians to worship God devoid of their political affiliations and to contribute immensely towards the work of God and the development of the nation.
