Minister leads team to inspect broken spillway at Garu

The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Stephen Yakubu, together with a team from the Ghana Irrigation Authority (GIA), has inspected and assessed the extent of damage on Tamne Dam following a heavy downpour that caused the spillway to breakdown.

The visit was to pave the way for an immediate maintenance work to commence on the dam.

The Minister, who interacted with some community members near the dam, assured them of the government’s plan to fix the spillway to enable them, especially farmers in the area, to derive its benefits.

The residents, on their part, expressed gratitude to the Minister and the team for the visit and expressed hope that the repair works would be done before the dry season.

Also in attendance were the District Chief Executive of Garu, Osman Musah, District Chief Executive Tempane, Anabida Issaka.
