He said there was the need for radical shift in the poor attitude towards the environment such as littering, dumping waste and defecating in open spaces.

Mr. Osei was addressing hundreds of people at Agogo after a massive clean-up exercise held jointly by the assembly and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The people spent more than four hours tidying up the Russia ParkĀ, widely acclaimed as the biggest plantain market in the country and stretching over an area that measures about 10 hectares.

The DCE described as heartwarming the enthusiastic response to the exercise and urged that this was sustained.

He pledged strict enforcement of the assemblys bye-laws on sanitation to check indiscipline and impunity.

The President of the Kumasi-Dichemso Stake of the Church, Edmond Adusei, said it had an African Service Project under which community-based clean up exercises were supported.
