The candidates drawn from 25 public and private schools are taking the examinations at the Akrofuom Senior High and Technical School (ASHTEC) which happens to be the examination center in the district.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Maurice Jonas Woode prior to the commencement of the examination on Monday morning visited the center to interact with the candidates and also to wish them well.

Addressing the candidates, he admonished them to be confident in themselves and eschew any form of activity which will jeorpadise their future. He also appealed to them not to involve themselves in any form of examination malpractice which could cause their papers to be cancelled and even have them arrested.

He rather charged them to do their best to make themselves, school, parents, teachers and the district proud.
‘‘This is the time for you to exhibit to the world that your 9 years stay in school has been worthwhile. Make yourself, your school, parents and the district proud’’ he said.

Hon. Woode also added that they should take advantage of the Free Senior High School Policy of the government by passing this examination convincingly.

He also told them not to be scared but rather be confident in all that they have learnt by putting fear out of their lives.

He said they should not see this examination as anything new since all the questions will be from what their teachers have taught them.

Mr. Woode wished them well and prayed to God to give them retentive memory.

The centre was peaceful and serene as invigilators, supervisors and Security personnel's were present going about their responsibilities. The supervisors revealed that they have not had any challenge since the exams started and they hope the trend will continue till the examination ends.

A total of 7 candidates were absent on the first day of the examination.
