BIRIM NORTH: Raymond Nana Damptey confirmed DCE
The Birim North District at its special meeting held on May 12, 2017 overwhelmingly confirmed the president’s nominee, Raymond Nana Damptey as the District Chief Executive.

The election which was conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission saw 37 Assembly Members representing 97.4% voting in favour of the nominee, with one vote against representing 2.6% out of the 38 assembly members present.

The DCE in his acceptance speech expressed his happiness and thanked all those who made is appointment and confirmation possible for the confidence reposed in him.

He affirmed his commitment towards the progress of the district and called for constructive criticism.

He appealed for unity among all political parties, chiefs and their subjects/public, and staff, adding that through unity and cooperation they will be able to address the developmental challenges of the district.

In order to get a Presiding Member to preside over the confirmation of the DCE, an earlier election was conducted to elect a PM.

Mr. Alimoh Douglas Addo, an elected member for the Abirem Electoral Area was successfully elected as the new Presiding Member for the Assembly.

He polled 34 votes representing 89.5% out a total membership of 40. 

The special meeting was graced by Mr. Osarfo Marfo, Senior Minister, Mr. Joseph Tetteh, Dep. Regnal Minister, Mr. Osei Frimpong, Abirem Constituency, Alhaji Abinga, 2nd Vice NPP Regional Chairman, chiefs in the district,  Oda Divisional Commander, DCE for Akyemansa district, party faithful, DCD and various heads of departments.
