As of Thursday, 23rd April 2020, the Municipal Health Directorate is reported to have sent 12 samples of suspected patients to KCCR for laboratory examination out of which 7 have come out negative.

The municipality looks vulnerable now more than ever due to the confirmed cases of the disease in its neighbouring districts like Afigya Kwabre South and Atwima Nwabiagya North. In respect of this danger, the Offinso Municipal Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEC) met on Friday, 24th April 2020 to discuss proactive measures required to contain and prevent the spread of the virus should there be a positive case in the municipality.

Among key measures taken is to intensify public education, enforce rules on physical distancing, social gathering, public transportation, and the wearing of face masks. With regards, the latter, the Assembly, with technical support from the health directorate, intends to organise a workshop for the dressmakers to come up with user- friendly yet affordable face masks.

Again, preparations are underway to make available holding areas, isolation centres, and other logistics such as gun thermometers and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). The assembly will continue to suspend its special market days so as to observe social distancing protocols.

The Offinso Municipal PHEC, during its inaugural meeting on 18th March 2020 was divided into 4 sub-committees; Public Sensitisation, Disease Control, Environmental and Personal Hygiene, and Law Enforcement. As part of the agenda for this meeting, each sub-committee gave a report on how far it has reached in carrying out its mandate

Hon. Solomon Kesseh, the Municipal Chief Executive is the Chairperson of the PHEC. Other members include but not limited to the Municipal Security Committee, Municipal Director of Health, and Municipal Director of Education, Municipal Coordinating Director, and the Municipal Information Officer.
