64 year adjudged the best farmer
A hearty and satisfied Clement Adu-Yeboah Fordjour of Mpasatia won the 37th Farmers’ Day celebration held at Kyerayaaso in the Atwima Mponua District.

The program brought people from all walks of life to the durbar grounds to celebrate our gallant farmers whose relentless efforts are keeping Ghanaians alive.

The Chairman of the day, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum II, was full of praise to the farmers. He noted that, farmers are the main drivers of the economy, hence the need for the state take good care of them. He further bemoaned the destruction of farmlands and water bodies by illegal miners which have rendered hitherto many arable lands useless.


However, Nana Boateng Twum thanked Government for the construction of roads and the expansion of electricity to almost every community in the District. Again, the overlord of Nyinahin advised the youth to venture into farming which he stated, is a very lucrative enterprise.

The District Chief Farmer, Nana Otuo Antwi Boasiako, commended Government in the sterling performance in the Agric sector. He noted that, FSHS has taken away the albatross around the necks of farmers and the many development policies are putting the lives of farmers back on track. He further applauded Government on the pension schemes for farmers. The man with over 50 years farming experience chided Galamseyers for destruction of water bodies and it’s attendant annihilation of aquatic species.

Speaking to the already charged crowd, Isaac Asiamah, the Member of Parliament for the constituency thanked the farmers for keeping Ghanaians alive. He posited that, the NPP Government is constructing roads of about 130 km throughout the district. This the lawmaker stated, it’s going to ease the transportation burden of farmers to cart their food stuffs. Also he hinted, that, when he assumed office, only 24 communities were connected to the national grid, but that has increased to 426 communities leaving only about 18 communities. The MP further stated that, the budget impasse will soon be resolved for Ghanaians to benefit from the goodies of Government.


The newly appointed Chief Executive of the District,  Isaac Kofi Marfo, an astute farmer, praised his contemporaries for the yeoman work they have been doing all over these years. He reiterated the many things the earlier speakers had said. He gave sterling statistics on the achievements of the NPP Government; from the provision of fertilizers to the provision of seedlings to farmers. The District capo stated that, all social interventions rolled out by the Nana Addo-Bawumia Government is to ameliorate the plight of farmers. He advised farmers to stop using their kids on farms and make sure the go to school. Honorable Marfo entreated the gathering to maintain the NPP Government for so many years for outright development in Mponua.


Many of the categories of awards were won by others farmers. Items awarded to farmers included but were not limited to Deepfreezers, Tricycles, Wellington boots, Television Sets, Motor bikes and Fertilizers. Others are, knapsack sprayers, Spraying Machines, wheel barrows, Tillers and Millers and Double decker fridges.

Mr.  Isaac Kwame Asiamah gifted a 50 inch flatscreen Television sets to the Best Diasbled Farmer, District Best Youth Farmer as well as the Overall best Farmer.
