Stool Lands commissions schools projects in Asutifi North

The Minister of the Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Abu Jinapor (MP), has commissioned some educational facilities in Bogyampa, Donkorkrom and Kojokrom in Asutifi North District of Ahafo region as part of the lands commissions resolve to improve educational standards and human resource needs of the nation.

The gesture also forms part of the commission's resolve to effectively utilize stool lands revenue for development projects to improve the lives of our communities and the nation.

In an address on behalf of the Lands and Natural Resources, (MP). Abu Jinapor, read by Surveyor Maame Ama Edumaze Acquah, gave assurance that the government would continue to expand infrastructure to improve the lives of Ghanaians.

She noted that over the years the Office of the Administrator of Stools Lands has lived up to its mandate by mobilizing stool lands revenue across all stool lands owning communities including districts and traditional areas and accordingly disbursed the same to beneficiaries for development projects.

Surveyor Ama Edumaze Acquah commended the Ahafo region for their judicious use of stool lands revenue for development projects which has manifested in the commissioning of the school projects in Asutifi North District.

"Today my office is again very honoured to be invited to Commission these fully furnished classroom blocks at Bogyampa, Donkorkrom and Kojokrom aimed at improving education at the basic level.

She hoped the school blocks will help expand and create access for a number of children of school going age, improve the quality of learning to develop personalities, attitudes skills and values as well as to acquire knowledge for the nation's overall development.

She however, expressed deep concern about the widespread public land encroachment and chieftaincy disputes and appealed to Nananom to abide by the Constitution of Ghana that places enormous obligation on custodians of customary lands on traditional authorities to ensure that fiduciaries of lands entrusted and vested to them are all well protected and preserved for future generations.

She therefore, called for close collaboration from all stakeholders to develop a framework for rational development of stool lands at all levels and called on the general public to pay their rents to the assembly.

The Asutifi North District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Anthony Mensah said the completion of the project was a demonstration of the government’s commitment to develop the human resource needs of the country. He urged the people of the communities to patronize the schools and advised they also adopt good maintenance.
