Okaikwei North Assembly organizes “Operation Clean your Frontage”
The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has organized a cleanup exercise at the forecourt of the "City of the living God Ministries", Okaikwei Central.

The Municipal Assembly organized this event in respect to the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey’s initiative on cleanliness dubbed “Operation Clean Your Frontage”.

During the event, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assembly, Mr Boye Laryea advised all present to put a stop to the improper disposal of refuse at unauthorized places such as on the roadsides and in the gutters.


He stated emphatically that these actions cause floods when it rains and this could be detrimental to human health. He entreated all and sundry to keep their refuse in well covered dustbins and give them out to trucks for disposal.

According to the MCE, the Assembly will tow cars parked by the roadside with a fine of one thousand cedis (GHs 1,000.00) for those who default this instruction.

He mentioned that all garages situated by the roadside would have their owners dealt with when they fall victims. This is to limit the rate of road accidents. He also expressed his disapproval of people repairing cars on roads and asked they put a stop to it.


The MCE Boye Laryea made mention of the security state of the residents in the Municipality. He charged all property owners to be vigilant to make known the number of foreigners in their houses to ensure better security.

He warned metal container owners to desist from mounting their containers on pavements and roads since it prevents free movement of people. He stated that, those who fail to comply would have their containers ceased and given to scrap dealers.

He disclosed that officers of the Municipal would relay the information to churches and other Community Based Organizations.

Present at the event were the Development Planning Officer, Ophelia Aryere, the Environmental Health Director, Boniface Ashalley, the AssemblyMan for Wouyeman Electoral Area, Patrick Awuku and the Municipal Information Officer, Joana Arries-Tagoe.
