Forestry Commission cautioned Fulani herdsmen
Mr. Francis Brobbey, the Sunyani District Manager of the Forestry Commission has caution Fulani herdsmen rearing cattle in the forests to desist from that or face the wrath of the commission.

He made the caution when he addresses section of farmers at Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality on issues and challenges facing them as results of the activities of the Fulani herdsmen in the Municipality.

According to Mr. Brobbey, the importance of forests in our daily life could not be overlooked hence the need for all to help in protecting our forests.

He said governments realizing the importance of forests have rolled out several policies aimed at reclaiming the lost forests which the Commission would not relent on its toes on ensuring the success of such policies.

He mentioned that government have provide five vehicles and security taskforce to assist the Commission to help control activities of Fulani herdsmen and protect life and property in the Municipality.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum said the move was informed by several complainants to the Assembly by farmers in the Municipality whose farmers and produce has been damaged by cattle.

He assured the Forestry Commission of his support to help address the menace.

The MCE also caution other nomadic herdsmen who intend to invade the Municipality to rescind their decision as he will not allow that to happen.

He also admonished local cattle breeders to confine their castles to prevent further damages to farms and called on residents to be vigilante and report any such situation to the Assembly for prompt action.
