EJISU: Poverty alleviation through sustainable entrepreneurial skills development
Throughout Ages societies have evolved from one stage to the other in relation to our Developmental Progress. Successive governments have been initiating various kinds of Developmental Innovations and Programs such as MASLOC and the Youth Employment Agency (program) to support citizens especially the youth to come out of the vicious cycle of poverty.

It is in view of this that the German International Zone, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in collaboration with the Ghana Government and the Ministry of Trade and Industry under the Office of the National Board For Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) has Organized a project dubbed Poverty Alleviation-Through Sustainable Entrepreneurial Skills and Development to support the Ghanaian youth, especially for some Returnees, and deportees from Europe, America, Asia and other States across the globe and Existing SME’S and other Prospective Migrants.

According to Mr Eric Oti Nyarko, the Director at the (NBSSI), initially the project was started by the German International Zone (GIZ) together with the British Council in the year 2017 and it was implemented in the regional capital’s namely Accra in the Greater Accra region, Kumasi in the Ashanti region and Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region. Upon successful implantation the Project has now been extended to other peri-urban centres and districts.

The Ejisu Municipality being one of the beneficiaries of the project officially commenced in January 2019, and on 5/02/2019 the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) directorate started their first activity of the project which took place at the Assemblies of God.

The activities included Registration, Orientation and Sensitization to prospective beneficiaries. Currently Registration is on-going at the office of the (NBSSI).

After the registration the next activity will be selection of participants and least assessment. After that, periodic training will be given to selected candidates, and then all necessary financial support and literacy in addition to technical assistants will be given.

The Project is expected to benefit the youth between the ages of 18 and 35years and it is aimed at getting the Ghanaian youth stay in Ghana and developed their individual potential capabilities as well as their country.
