Nana Dr. Okra Baadu iii wins 2021 Kwahu West best farmer
A Sixty – Five year old chief of Asaasefufuom Nana Dr. Okra Baadu iii has been crowned the 2021 overall Kwahu West Municipal best farmer at the 37th Farmer’s Day Celebration held at Mpraeso Amanfrom in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.

He took home a brand new royal tricycle, 1 wheelbarrow, 3 shovels, 3 Wellington boot, 2 machetes and a plaque as his award.

The event, which was held under the theme: “Planting for food and job; consolidating food system in Ghana.” brought together farmers from various agricultural fields to be celebrated for their hard work.


Mr. Yaw Owusu Addo, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, expressed his joy about how hard the farmers in the country have been doing to make sure they keep the country alive with an abundance of foodstuff.

The government will do all the possible best to support farmers through the provision of subsidized fertilizers, seedlings and many farm inputs in the near future to improve farming systems in the country.


He mentioned that Government in its bid to reduce post-harvest losses has implemented the One District one Factory program which has seen the establishment of factories including Agro-processing factories to provide ready market for farm produce.

He called on Ghanaians to support the Government by paying their taxes to enable the government rake enough revenue to finance its developmental projects.


The District Best Famer, on behalf of the awardees, thanked the government and the assembly for their effort in improving agriculture in the Municipality and urged the youth to take advantage of the government's pro-agriculture initiatives to create employment for themselves and others.
