W AKIM: Municipal Medical Director appeals for infrastructure upgrade at Asamankese Gov't Hospital

The Municipal Medical Director at the Asamankese Government Hospital, in the West Akim Municipality, Dr. Sarpong Agyeman Boateng has called for a major infrastructure intervention at the hospital to improve their services to the public.

He laments that the maternity block which was started about ten (10) years ago has been abandoned adding that the current maternity block at the hospital is too small for their services.

"This is a big challenge to us; we have land yet upgrading of the hospital has become a problem"

Dr. Agyeman therefore called on government to turn its attention to the Asamankese Hospital for the needed infrastructure expansion.

According to him, the hospital has been there for long yet some new hospitals have gotten the needed upgrade but the Asamankese Hospital remains the same.

The Medical director was speaking with the media when two non-governmental organisations - Elizabeth Ambasaki Foundation based in the United States of America in collaboration with NAADA 1 Foundation, presented assorted medical supplies to the hospital.

He asserts that while they look forward for government intervention, their doors are also opened to individuals, institutions, and organisations who are willing to render any form of assistance to the hospital to be able to offer better services to the public.
