The excited District Chief Executive for the area, Felicia Ntiakwah Amissah speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com said it is just a matter of time and the Assin South District would also boast of its own major health facility (District Hospital) that would admit referals from the other health facilities like the clinics and community-based health planning and services (CHPS) compounds that currently serves the health needs of the people.

This, she noted would save the people from travelling to Fosu, Cape Coast, or Abura Dunkwa which has been the norm all these years since the hospital comes with the necessary facilities to deliver quality health care to the people.

For, it is her hope that the project would be completed this year since it was supposed to be completed somewhere last year December.

Health Priority Project (Agenda 111)

Government in its quest to improve health infrastructure initiated the Ghana Priority Health Infrastructure Project dubbed Agenda 111 to build 111 hospitals including 101 district hospitals, six regional hospitals in the newly created regions, two specialised hospitals in the middle and northern belts, as well as a regional hospital in the Western Region and renovation of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

The hospitals would have facilities such as Outpatient services, including consultation for medical and surgical cases, Ophthalmology, Dental and Physiotherapy and Imaging services, and mortuary.

There are also staff accommodation for medical doctors, nurses and other health workers.
