KETA: Fisherfolks hail government over bumper harvest
Fisherfolks in the Keta Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region have hailed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo's government over a bumper harvest of fish after the opening of the close season early this month.

According to the fisherfolks who expressed their excitement over their catch described the close season which lasted for the whole month of July as though frustrating but a great policy to boost the living conditions of both the fish and the actors in the fishery industry.
They indicated that the period of the closed season was in order as it allows the fish to spawn.

The Chief Fisherman in the area Mr. Seth Abgo Kedey expressed gratitude to the Akufo Addo led government through the Municipal Chief Executive for the Keta Municipality, Godwin Effah during a working visit to access the living standard of the fisherfolks and also gather first-hand information on the impact of the opening of the close-season on their livelihood at Keta recently.

"We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the President of the Republic Nana Akufo Addo for this initiative and to our Mama Hon. Hawa Koomson, the Minister in charge of our industry, we say 'ayekoo' for your bold decision to implement this policy amidst unwanted pressure mount on the ministry to rethink the implementation of the said closed-season policy, but today we are the beneficiaries as we are harvesting a lot to boost the economy" the Chief Fisherman observed.

They promised their unflinching support to the government for the implementation of any policy that seeks to develop and improve on the living conditions of the industry as it will help increase yield in the harvest of fish in the country.

The Municipal Chief Executive Officer for the Keta Municipal Assembly, Godwin Effah in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com congratulates the fisherfolks for their harvest after entreating them to desist from any form of illegal fishing which could affect the harvest of healthier production of fish for human consumption, charging them to strictly adhered to the protocols government production of fish in the country.

He again promised his commitment to the fishery industry in his Municipality to boost their standard of living.
