This has been necessitated by some farmers who deliberately cultivated within the demarcated area of the dam.

During the meeting, the chiefs and people resolved that the contractor can go on to destroy the crops within the demarcated area if he finds it necessary since the affected farmers were very well aware and have been told over and over again not to cultivate on that portion of the land.

The whole team later moved to the site to see the number of farms and types of crops that will be affected. Suggestions to delay a bit on the part of the dam that will affect the crops so that they can harvest before the construction gets there, especially a Yam farm which is located on the spill wave part of the dam.

The site engineer, Mr Lawrence insisted that it will delay their work and they have been given less than two month to complete the site.

He again added that this period is the appropriate time (raining season) for dam construction since it is the right time to ascertain the right volumes of water that it can contain and correct any problem that could be caused by the water.

The MCE resolved to meet the contractor to further deliberate on the way forward.
