Minister inaugurates community mining programme at Koben
The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng has inaugurated community mining programme at Koben in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality in the Ashanti region.

Presence at the program were the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr.Michael Amoah Awuku, Member of Parliament for the constituency Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Anhwere, the chief of Koben, Nana Bosomuru Nim Adjei II, the obaahemaa of Koben, Nana Adjeiwaa Nyarko, security personnel in the Municipality, staff of the assembly and the entire community members.



In his speech, the sector Minister applauded the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for repealing galamsey as promised in his 2016 campaign. "We should be grateful to the President for banning illegal mining, today we inaugurate the community mining here, this will create over two thousand jobs opportunities for the people of Ghana, we will ensure the indigenes also get their share, perhaps, we won't tolerate drinking spots, and other illegal activities at the mining site", he said.



The MCE indicated that the mining has come to stay and also commended the government for the community mining initiative "I would like to extend my profound gratitude to the President, the sector Minister and other dignitaries here, truly, today is a great day, the inauguration of the community mining will reduce unemployment and illegal mining activities within the municipality", he emphasized.

The Member of Parliament, Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Anhwere added that the authorities of the Assembly should recruit the youth in the area since Unemployment is a threat to national security.



The Obaahemaa who chaired the occasion thanked the President, the Minister, Municipal Chief Executive, Member of Parliament and other protocols for such wonderful opportunity for the people of Koben.
