Nadowli-Kaleo Assembly hands over school block to communities
The Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly has handed over new school blocks to three communities namely, Kandowmini, Kagwe, and Paali.

While Kandowmini community were built a kindergarten block, Kagwe and Paali communities all provided with a three unit classroom block each.

Constructed with funding from GETFUND, the new building provides relief and serene atmosphere for teaching and learning for about 300 pupils who prior to the Assembly’s intervention did not have a kindergarten for the children Kandowmwini.

In her speech during the handing over ceremony, the District Chief Executive, Katherine T. Lankono said education had been her priority and she would endeavour to elevate the standard of teaching and learning in the district.



She said the three unit classroom block at Paali was constructed upon an appeal from the Islamic Umah in the district during the Edul adha prayer when she joined the Islamic community to pray in Sankana, she also thanked the member of parliament of the constituency, Alban Bagbin for supporting the Assembly to construct the three unit classroom block at Kagwe.

She encouraged children of school going age in the district to be serious with their books since Free Senior High School policy has come to supplement the effort of their parents.



The Free Senior High School Policy (FSHSP), which is the flagship education programme of the New Patriot Party (NPP) government, has finally been implemented. Under the FSHSP, government will be required to foot all bills - including feeding fees, tuition fees and all other charges - with regard to first-year students admitted in the 2017/2018 academic year. She advised the authorities to take very good care of the structure.

The representative of the District Director of Education,Linus Gbireh promised to assign teachers to the school in this September for the school to start admitting children.


The Assembly member for Kagwe Hon.Rapheal A. Paul said he is very surprised at the pace of response by the Assembly in providing them with the KG block, which according to him will go a long way to support children around the community to have Kindergarten Education before advancing to the primary level.
