ASUNAFO S: DCE calls for peace ahead of December polls
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asunafo South Mr Christian Oppong Frimpong has called on all competing Political Parties in the December elections to be decorous on their campaign platforms to ensure peace.

He further urged the Political Parties to be tolerant and accept results of elections to avoid electoral conflicts saying such conflicts could extend to our neighbouring country like Togo.

The DCE made these remarks during a Peace Dialogue Programme organized by the Local Council of Churches over the weekend in Kukuom.

For his part, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the area Mr George Yaw Boakye urged the Traditional and Religious leaders to be brave and speak up against wrong doings in the area.

"The struggle and fight against electoral violence must be intensified from the top to the bottom especially from the top. Your voices must be heard. You are the ones who vote and elect us. Don’t be afraid to tell us the truth", he said.

In an address, the Chairperson of the Council, Rev Stephen Kanton who doubles as the Head Pastor of the Pentecost Church said, peace and unity should be a regular and constant theme in the messages of all Politicians who mounts the Political dais to speak to electorate to canvas for votes.

Rev  Kanton therefore advised the youth to reject Politicians who seek to use them as willing tools to implement any negative agenda that can destabilized the country and turn back the clock of progress.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) Parliamentary Aspirant Mr Bright Oppong also appealed to the Traditional leaders to investigate the Genesis of the NPP, NDC clashes and dealt with it seriously to avoid any happenings in future.

The Forum aimed at ensuring Peace in the area attracted participants of the various Political Parties, Traditional leaders, Heads of various Institutions as well as the general public.
