The Ga Central Municipal Assembly has assured of its readiness to cooperate with the development partners to successfully execute the Ghana Netherlands Water and Sanitation Project (GNWP) which was kick-started today.

According to the Coordinating Director for the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, Mr. S.K. Addo, the Assembly has put in place measures to harvest the full benefits which the programme brings to bare adding that the project has come at the right time since the Municipal Assembly could not initiate developmental projects alone.

“Most of our communities such as Ablekuma, Lomnava, Agape among others are semi-urban. They don’t have potable water and this programme (GNWP) promises to tackle those issues,” he intimated.
He said their partners are ready to comply with the Netherland Counterparts to fast-track the programme and work towards its success.

Mr. S.K. Addo made this known in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com after the Deputy Minister on behalf of the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development gave the green light to kick start the programme.

In all 5 Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies (MMAs) have been selected to benefit from this programme including Cape Coast Metropolitan, Ga Central, Ga South, Ga West and Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem Municipalities in the Central and Greater Accra Regions.

Meanwhile, about seventy (70) schools in the beneficiary MMAs will receive support for various sanitation projects.
