The renominated  District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa East, Mr I. K. Kyeremeh, has been rejected for the second time by members of the assembly at a  meeting held at Wamfie, the district capital, in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Mr Kyeremeh, had 19 of the assembly members voting ‘No’ to reject him, but while counting the ballot papers of those who voted ‘Yes’ to confirm him, a lone "macho" man emerged from nowhere, collected the ballot papers and bolted away with them in the full glare of heavy police presence at the venue.

Present at the election to confirm the beleaguered  incumbent DCE were the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo; his Deputy, Mr Justice Samuel Adjei; some district chief executives (DCEs) and some regional executive members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the EC officials who came to supervise the election, Mr Kyeremeh failed to secure the two-thirds majority (20 votes) required to enable him get the nod to begin his second term as the DCE.

The EC officials added that 19 out of the 29 assembly members voted ‘No’ when the counting  was done while 13 voted ‘Yes’ (which fell short of the two-thirds majority), saying the counting of the ‘Yes’ ballot was left with only two to complete when the "Macho" man  came in to collect the ballot papers and bolted away with it.

Pieces of information gathered at the venue indicated that the snatching of the ballot papers was allegedly orchestrated by some party executives to pave way for Mr Kyeremeh to be declared the winner, but the EC officials went ahead to declare him as the loser.
