The Ghana Muslim Mission is to establish a University at Esereso, near Kumasi, Sheikh Dr Amin Bonsu, Deputy National Imam of the Mission has announced.

The Ghana Muslim Mission is to establish a University at Esereso, near Kumasi, Sheikh Dr Amin Bonsu, Deputy National Imam of the Mission has announced.   

It would offer programmes in Administration, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Banking and Finance, Accounting, Human Resource Management and Theology.   

Sheikh Bonsu, who is the acting Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Mission, was addressing their 51st annual conference at Abrepo in Kumasi.

He said already, the Mission had acquired land at Esereso in the Bosomtwe District for the project.   

About GH¢15,672,197 is expected to be spent on the construction of lecture halls, administration block, hostels, staff accommodation, auditorium, sports facilities, shopping mall and mosque.

"Building a better education, the role of the Islamic Society", was the theme for the one day meeting.

He said the Mission was determined to project a more positive image of Islam and support human development.

Sheikh Bonsu appealed to individuals and corporate bodies to support the Mission to successfully complete the University.

He used the occasion to counsel Muslims to carry themselves well in society and avoid any act that could create image problems for the Islamic religion.

Mr Kofi Opoku Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, pledged support for the construction of the university.

He advised the youth to take education more seriously, saying, this was the only way they would become competitive on the job market.
He encouraged parents to give good moral training to their children in order for them to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
