A grasscutter farmer, Issaka Hamisu has appealed to non-governmental organisations, as well as benevolent organisations and philanthropist to assist him to produce and market his products on a large scale.

Speaking to www.ghanadistricts.com at the just ended exhibition show as part of activities marking the golden jubilee celebration of the Brong Ahafo region, he indicated that it has been his dream of exporting his products from his little town Kwame Danso to the rest of the world.

According to him, he started operating the business in 2005 with initial sponsorship from World Vision Ghana and subsequently the Business Advisory Centre of the Sene District Assembly.

He explained that although the business was fraught with challenges, he has been able to brave the storm.

Among these challenges, he said, were the unavailability of feed for the animals as well as low pricing of products.

He explained that during the dry season the local people burn the weeds which is used to feed the animals, adding that he has to price the products at a lower cost since the locals were unable to buy them at the actual cost.

Mr Hamisu indicated that he belonged to the Grasscutter Farming Association, and explained that the animals were sold at GHC 20.00 for members of the association and and GHC 30.00 for non-members.

He noted that currently eight of the animals were pregnant and could each produce between six and eight offsprings.

Mr Hamisu indicated that he had personally acquired a plot of land for the rearing of the grasscutter and needed funds to acquire cages to expand the business
