Volta Regional Police Commander, Mr David Ampah-Bennin, has observed that comradeship among personnel of the various arms of the security services would form an unbreakable bastion against all forms of criminal activity in the country.

He said it would do the country no good if personnel would show concern only for areas of their jurisdiction and refuse to give bits and pieces of information to enhance the performance of sister agencies.

Mr Ampah-Bennin was interacting with personnel of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) on his maiden familiarization tours of the Nyive, Shia, and Honuta Border posts.

He said information sharing and analysis could put the security agencies ahead of the criminals and make the country a safer place.

Mr Ampah-Bennin said collaboration between CEPS and Immigration personnel at the various entrypoints, for example, could expose smugglers and other miscreants.

The Regional Police Commander, who was with Mr Francis Kpobi, Volta Regional Commander of the GIS, Alhaji Salifu Ibin-Alhassan, Chief Collector of CEPS, representing the Sector Commander, and Mr Samuel Owusu-Berko, Ho Municipal Police Commander, said the camaraderie he had initiated at the regional command level should reflect at all levels.

Mr Ampah-Bennin lauded the CEPS regional sector for transparently handling cases of police seizures of contraband goods.

He said the goal of all security services in the country was to ensure peace, public safety and increase revenue for the state.

At the various stations he visited, the police commander received reports about good collaboration amongst the various security agencies.

The Nyive Sector Commander of GIS, Mr Fred Amankwa, said munitions available to his men did not match the size of the area covered.

He also spoke about poor office and residential accommodation for his men and women at the station.

At Honuta Mr Bismarck Kissi, Principal Collector in charge of the CEPS post, said the visit was an unparalleled morale booster for the personnel.

Mr Kpobi advised Immigration Officers on patrol duties to duly handover impounded goods to CEPS, which alone had the administrative right, to process those goods.
