Jomoro Assembly organizes clean-up exercise
The Jomoro Municipal Assembly has organized a clean-up exercise in collaboration with the Croatian Council of Church at Half Assini which is the Municipal Capital.

The exercise which was also supported by officers from the Environmental Health Unit and Department of Social Development carried out desilting of choked gutters aimed at preventing flood as the rainy season draw closer.

The exercise, which started at 60:30 am throughout the district, lasted for almost five hours with all shops and markets closed to pave the way for a successful clean up exercise.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Louisa Iris Arde, the cleanup exercise was aimed at advocating for a clean and healthy environment.


Speaking in an interview on the sideline of the event, the MCE indicated that the assembly was determined to stop the untidy conditions in the district and appealed to the residents to take interest in the exercise.

She also underscored the need to keep the surroundings clean at all times, and advised the citizens to avoid indiscriminate littering as they end up choking the gutters which engenders the flooding situation experienced in some of the areas.

He further admonished them not to throw rubbish indiscriminately to prevent diseases.

The exercise was led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Louisa Iris Arde and had in attendance officials from the Jomoro Municipal Assembly, Security Services, and Community members.
