According to him, since cleanliness is next to godliness, sanitation issues are very important in their quest for development and because of this the assembly will take environmental issues very seriously.

‘’I wish to state that all food vendors will be screened and certified before they would be allowed to sell food. Also the assembly will continue its sensitization drive to ensure that open defecation becomes a thing of the past”.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive said that their water bodies and environment are destroyed because of illegal mining activities and appealed to the people engaging in galamsey to comply with President Nana Akufo Addo’s directives to save the environment and water bodies.

He further said the purpose is to deliberate, solicit views, make inputs and consider the way forward in ensuring proper ways of exploiting their mineral resources (mining) and saving our environment- lands and water Bodies.

He noted that frantic efforts were being put in place on securing a final disposal site to help improve the sanitation situation in the area.
