Savelugu Assembly supports Persons with Disabilities

Some students living with various forms of disabilities in the Savelugu Municipality have received financial support from the Savelugu municipal Assembly

This kind gesture according to the Municipal Chief Executive ( MCE) Hajia Ayishetu Seidu was to extend aid to these student's to be able to pay their school fees at various tertiary educational institutions.

The support was also to help them overcome the barriers they face and to encourage them to pursue their dreams and aspirations.The MCE added that persons with disabilities face numerous challenges in their daily lives including access to education, employment, healthcare and social opportunities, emphasising that they are often confronted with physical, attitudinal and systematic barriers that makes it difficult for them to fully participate in society.

She further said that with the right support and resources persons with disabilities can achieve greater things. She revealed that the Assembly so far this year spent an amount of Forty-six thousand and eighty-five cedi , twenty two pesewas (46,085,22) on persons with disabilities in the area.

The move she explained was part of the general efforts of the Assembly to better the lot of PWDs in the area so that they are able to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Hajia Ayishetu called for continuous advocacy for inclusive education that welcomes and supports students with disabilities to ensure that they have equal access to quality education alongside their peers. The recipients expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the support and pledged to put the money into the intended purposes.
