Amansie West Assembly, small scale miners embark on reclamation programme
The Amansie West District Assembly and the Small Scale Miners Association in the Amansie west are to take a new move on pilot basis on the reclamation of all lands destroyed by galamsey and Small Scale miners to cover uncovered pits among others.

Addressing the meeting at Manso- Nkwanta the district capital of the Amansie West, Mr William Bediako Asante commended the members for their bold move to start re-claiming the land destroyed by small scale/ galamsey miners pending the president new directives on mining activities.

Mr Bediako Asante asked them to have faith in Government and the President Nana Akuffo Addo have their concerns at heart and will would also consider their concern.



The DCE asked all small scale miners who have not yet attended the Tarkwa School of mines to receive training on the activities of mining to do so to enable them receive mining certificate pending Government new policies on mining.

The Chairman of the Amansie west small scale miners Association Mr Abu Bonsrah also thanked the members for their intention to reclaim the lands in the district and urged them to keep it up.



He appealed to the Vanguard personnel not to set fire or destroy small scale miners machines as that was not their mandates given by the Government.

The Deputy Commander in charge of Vanguard, Chief Superintendent Hennery Otu on his part said they should have faith in them as they are there to assist them and protect them to do the right thing until Government come out with new policies on mining activities.
