MAMPONG: Assembly ready to support health directorate to deliver quality service – MCE
Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, Thomas Appiah Kubi has assured the health directorate and people of Mampong Municipality that his office was ready to assist in the provision of quality healthcare delivery in the municipality.

He gave the assurance at municipal health directorate’s annual performance review 2017 at the assembly hall of the municipal assembly.

According to him, no country could develop if the health of its citizens was taken for granted and that was why the NPP government introduced the National Health Insurance Scheme when it came to power some years back.

He disclosed that 4 doctors’ bungalows had been earmarked for renovation this year to encourage them to stay and work very effectively for the municipality while the accommodation for the hospital’s gaenacologist and surgeon where ready and fully furnished by the assembly.

The president’s representative revealed that the municipal ambulance van which had developed major faults had been repaired and was now on the road much to the relieve of patients.

He advised the gathering made up staff from Mampong hospital, Kofiase Health Centre, Assam Health Centre, Krobo Health Center, Adidwan Heath Centre, Benin Health Centre, Yonso Health Centre, Apaa SDA Health Centre ,Calvary Hospital, Philipa Maternity Home, Quality Health Care, Nadawora hospital, Christaa clinic and selected departments within the assembly to guard against the temptation of extorting monies from clients and exhibit high levels of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The Municipal health director, Mr Jacob Amoah disclosed among other things that by the end of 2017, there was reduction in still birth from 3.0% to 2.1% and improvement in family planning coverage from 81 % to 86%, improvement in school health activities, total attendance at post natal clinics increased by 3%, the anti natal ward was renovated with support from kroyekuo in Mampong.

He stated increase in teenage pregnancy, spontaneous abortions and bedbugs infestations in the senior high schools as some of the major challenges the directorate faced and called for stakeholders meeting to solicit ideas on how to curb this social menace this year.

Mr Amoah expressed his gratitude to the staff from the various Sub municipals and CHPS zones for their relentless efforts in the face of many challenges confronting them in the discharge of their work.
