PWDs receive support from Kwahu East Assembly
Some nineteen persons living with disability (PWD) in the Kwahu East District took turns to receive both cash and logistical support from the Disability Fund of the District Common Fund.

They took home items such as wheelchairs, Fridges, Ice Chest, popcorn machines, sewing machines, Hair dryers, clutches, among others for income generation activities.

Some 10 students who are also Persons with disability have also received scholarship and the rest received funds for health and assistive devices including prosthetic limbs.


Speaking at the event, The Municipal Chief Executive of Kwahu East District Assembly, Mr. Isaac Agyapong in his speech, thanked President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and the local government ministry for releasing funds to support PWDs and also said; this is the second presentation to PWDs in the district for the year.

Mr. Agyapong said, the move is in fulfillment of sustainable development goal 8.5, which seeks to achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.


Addressing issues on persons with disabilities, he said the government has increased the amount to be given to the disabled persons from 2% to 3%.

He cautioned the beneficiaries against selling what has been given them by the Assembly for whatsoever reasons but rather they should make good use of the things given them.


He encouraged persons with disabilities to be entrepreneurial in their day to day activities in order to keep up with the pace of development in the district and the country as a whole.
