Minister of Interior Visits Damongo
The Minister for Interior Hon. Ambrose Dery has paid a one day working visit to the Savannah Region.

Mr Ambrose Dery first visited the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council where he met with the Minister in-charge of the region, Salifu Adam Braimah who led the minister and his team to meet with the security services in the region including the Savannah Regional Police Command, Savannah Regional Fire Command and the Regional Immigration Service Command.

The Interior Minister inspected separate Guard of honours mounted by the security and also interacted with the personnel of the security services.

He used the opportunity to address several issues raised by the security personnel including accommodation, promotions, lack of vehicles to help in their operations in the region.

The Minister and entourage later paid a courtesy call on the overlord of the Gonja traditional area, Yagbonwura Borasa Tuntumba at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo.

At the Jakpa Palace, Yagbonwura Boresa welcomed the minister and his entourage into the Savannah Region and used the opportunity to make several appeals to him regarding security issues in the region.


Yagbonwura Boresa told the Minister that he is worried about the rampant killings going on in the region citing Bole area where recently some persons were shot with one of the victims still receiving treatment in the hospital.

He praised the Police Service in the region for reducing the rate of armed robbery which has become another major problem in the region.
Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa spoke about the recent one on the Bole-Tinga road and appealed for more Police Posts in the area and more police officers to beef up the security situation in the Savannah Region.

He further spoke about the various chieftaincy conflicts in the Savannah Region mentioning that of Bole, Damongo and so on and as well called for collaboration between his committee of eminent chiefs charged to resolve the chieftaincy issues in the region and the national security outfit to resource the committee find lasting solutions to the chieftaincy issues.

Interior Minister Hon Ambrose Dery in response to the request put forward by the Yagbonwura thanked him for his role in finding lasting solution to the Dagbon chieftaincy issues.
He also reminded the Yagbonwura that he was brought up in Damongo and attended his school in Damongo.

He will therefore make sure the request by Yagbonwura to resource the Security Services in the region is attended to immediately.

He applauded the Yagbonwura for forming the committee of eminent chiefs to solve the issues in Gonjaland and promised to consult the national security minister to help the committee.
